Not enough contributions yet.

Fewer than 10 of 250 contributions counted. Until 250, this page holds the methods and nothing else.

Not enough contributions yet: fewer than 10 of 250. Counted contributions are rounded down to 10.

Contributions cannot be verified and anyone could inflate them, so the figures are indicative. Not a representative sample.

A bigger quarter shows more detail.

  1. Under 250 contributions This quarterMethods note only. No group, no split.
  2. 250 or more contributionsGroups with 10 or more contributions, as ranges.
  3. 500 or more contributionsSplits for groups of 50 or more, and one headline.
  4. 3.000 or more contributionsChange since the quarter before, for groups split in both.

A small quarter would show one person's laptop. So the page grows with the count, and never earlier. Groups under 10 contributions stay hidden at every size.

How a number gets here

  1. Your laptopWorks out a short message on your own machine. You read it before anything is sent.
  2. The messageLaptop class, RAM tier, verdict and four ranges. No ID, no date, no exact numbers.
  3. CountersIt is added to counters and not stored as a row. Each network counts once a quarter.
  4. The quarter closesThen 30 more days pass, so no live counter can be compared with an earlier copy.
  5. PublishedA group from 10 contributions. A split from 50.

The message is small and has no name on it.

What the message holds

  • Laptop class, like MacBook Pro with a Pro chip
  • Memory tier, like 24 GB
  • The verdict
  • Four ranges: memory pressure, swap, graphics, processor

What it never holds

  • An ID or a date
  • Your IP address
  • The exact model or any exact number
  • A link to a shared report

You tick the box yourself, in baseline share or baseline contribute. Both show the exact message first. What is stored, in full.

Small groups stay hidden.

Under 10

Not shown. Not even as a number.

10 or more

Shown as a range. No split yet.

50 or more

Split only if no value is above 90% or below 10%.

The three rules, drawn without data.

We publish no totals across laptop classes or memory tiers, so a hidden group cannot be worked out by subtraction. The report page shows only how many contributions came in, rounded down to 10.

A quarter is published 30 days after it ends.

Every quarter follows the same three steps.

Contributions cannot be verified and anyone could inflate them, so the figures are indicative. These are people who chose to measure.

Count your laptop in.

After your report, baseline share asks once. The box is off unless you tick it. baseline contribute does only this, with no public link.

Your contribution itself is never sold, never joined with anything else and never used for training. Only the published totals are open data under CC BY 4.0. Free to use under CC BY 4.0. How we checked that it is anonymous.
